gicq 0.30 Installation Instructions
===================================

Installing this should be fairly straightforward. First, you must have two
packages, gtk and libicq. You can get them from the following locations:

gtk - ftp://ftp.gtk.org/pub/gtk/v1.1/gtk+-1.1.9.tar.gz
libicq - ftp://korsoft.com/pub/gicq/libicq-0.30.tar.gz

Unpack gicq-0.30.tar.gz and cd into the gicq-0.30 directory. Then execute
the following commands:

$ ./configure
$ make
$ su
# make install

This will install a single file, "gicq", into /usr/local/bin by default.

Configure will check for GNOME libraries, and if they are present, will
compile gicq with GNOME support. To disable this and compile a straight
GTK version of gicq, run "./configure --without-gnome"

If you installed GNOME from RedHat RPMs, it's probably installed in /usr
instead of /usr/local. If configure complains about not finding
gnomeConf.sh, run "./configure --with-gnome=/usr"

Note that this will only work with GNOME v0.99 or later.

If you experience any trouble compiling, installing, or using this software,
e-mail me at gabriel@korsoft.com. This is beta software, and does contain
bugs.
